Specialized experience is one year of experience at the EL/GS-09 level, or equivalent, that has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Examples of such specialized experience include:
  • independently performing the full range of investigative functions on assigned cases or portions of cases from planning and conducting fact-finding to reporting the results of investigations;
  • performing undercover and surveillance work under close supervision;
  • conducting investigative interviews; analyzing investigative facts to arrive at sound conclusions, etc.; OR
    You may qualify if you have earned a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or have completed three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LLM. Such education must be related to the criminal investigation field in order to be qualifying.

The duties of this position require moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather.
