Summary:
The Office of Security plans, administers, and monitors all security programs on a Bureau-wide basis. The mission of the Office of Security is to provide 24 hours of continuous protection of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing where our Nation's currency, stamps and other securities are produced and also to safeguard its employees, visitors and tourists by controlling, screening and monitoring access to all Bureau property and entrances. The Office of Security is responsible for administering the Bureau's Drug Testing Program and the Emergency
Preparedness Program Additionally, the Office of Security is entrusted to provide security support to all Bureau components by developing, expounding and enforcing Bureau security policies, procedures, standards and departmental regulations. The Office of Security develops and implements security-oriented policies and procedures at Washington and at the Western Currency Facility.

Duties

As a Security Officer, you will:

  • Plan, administer, and monitor all security programs on a Bureau-wide basis.
  • Formulate strategic plans, goals, policies and procedures for OS office operations, and all units across both facilities of the Bureau.
  • Administer and coordinate the Bureau's Emergency Preparedness Program.
  • Receive and dispatch top security information and conduct an annual inventory of top secret material.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:
The experience may have been gained in either the public or private sector. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. SUITABILITY, CLEARANCE & REQUIREMENTS:  A background investigation will be required for all new hires.  Appointment will be subject to the applicant’s successful completion of a background investigation and favorable adjudication.  Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for disqualification in the hiring process. The background investigation process conducted by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing is very thorough.  Therefore  it is imperative that applicants exercise candor and honesty when answering background questionnaires, especially as it relates to arrest, employment, education, finances, illegal drug use, and/or other criminal history.  Falsification discovered in security documents or during the background investigation process may result in an immediate negative suitability determination or immediate revocation of your interim clearance (if applicable).

    Rating: Your application will be evaluated in the following areas: Administrative Management, Analytical, and Communication. Category rating will be used to rank and select eligible candidates. If qualified, you will be assigned to one of three quality level categories, Gold, Silver, and Bronze depending on your responses to the online questions, regarding your experience, education, and training related to this position. A subject matter expert may be used in the evaluation. Your rating may be lowered if your responses to the online questions are not supported by the education and/or experience described in your application.

    Qualifications:
    You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

    Specialized experience:  For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: 
    -Leading a Security and/or Law Enforcement organization in meeting organizational goals, mission, and vision; AND
    -Developing and implementing metrics and key performance indicators; AND
    -Applying risk assessment and security survey techniques; AND
    -Developing proposals, briefings or position papers to state the security position on issues; AND
    -Communicating effectively with varying audiences such as senior executives, unions, employees, and other stakeholders; AND
    -Experience applying laws, regulations, policies, and procedures to successfully administer security and/or law enforcement programs.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
