To be eligible for this position at this grade level, you must meet the requirements below.
One year or twelve (12) months of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) in the Federal government. To be qualifying your experience must demonstrate: Knowledge of the laws, rules and regulations relevant to filing, items claimed, payment, penalties, interest, and/or other related items; Ability to interpret and comprehend the contents of case files sufficient to determine interrelationship of information and propose necessary actions/adjustments; and Working knowledge of the relevant systems, transaction codes, procedures, actions, reports, etc., necessary to carry out the duties of this position.
Examples may include: Performing case analysis on pre-classified returns and unresolved responses such as those involving unagreed/complex IRP issues referred from other areas; Corresponding with taxpayers to obtain information, explain liability, and encourage compliance; Performing necessary research using the appropriate systems; Performing necessary computations, adjustments, reconstructions, etc.; Initiating special handling notices to provide instructions for the full range of corrections to taxpayer accounts; and Processing carryback/carryforward cases that may involve restricted interest and multiple year adjustments.

TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Under merit promotion procedures, Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions contained in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.
