One year or twelve (12) months of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) in the Federal government. Specialized experience is experience that is related to the work of this position and has provided you with the competencies required for successful job performance. Examples of qualifying experience should demonstrate general knowledge of tax rules, regulations, and procedures as well as the penalty and interest rate computations. This includes cases involving restricted interest, minimum and alternative minimum tax, income averaging, and tax preference items; In-depth knowledge of a broad range of filing requirements and offsets; Working knowledge of AIMS, IDRS, service center processing procedures, master file transaction codes, procedures for effecting account corrections and adjustments; Knowledge of business, fiduciary, and estate tax; Thorough knowledge of procedures and criteria relating to statute protection and expiration including Restricted Waivers of Consent and controlling of the statute; and, Ability to provide clear and concise replies to taxpayers and diplomacy in telephone contacts.

TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Under merit promotion procedures, Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions contained in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.
