Specialized Experience for the GS-11: You must have fifty-two weeks (1 year) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position should include: professional knowledge of cost accounting concepts, principles, and methods sufficient to: Update or operate accounting/cost accounting systems monthly (run reports, input, etc); Interpret accounting standards including financial and cost accounting, policies and requirements; examine, analyze, and interpret accounting data, records and reports. OR You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Three (3) full academic years of progressively higher graduate level education or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in either accounting or auditing or related fields, such as business administration, finance, or public administration. A copy of transcript or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned is required.

The experience may have been gained in either the public or the private sector. One year of specialized experience refers to full time work; part time work is considered on a prorated basis. Specialized experience for this position should include: professional knowledge of cost accounting concepts, principles, and methods sufficient to: Develop, update and operate accounting/cost accounting systems monthly (run reports, input, etc); Interpret accounting standards including financial and cost accounting, policies and requirements; examine, analyze, and interpret accounting data, records and reports.

  4. I have some work experience, either paid or internship in business or accounting or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college level education, and training. I am also a Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, which was obtained through a written examination
  5. I have completed the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester-hour requirement of paragraph A, provided that (a) the applicant has successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field, e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining; (b) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that the applicant has demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in paragraph A; and (c) except for literal nonconformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, the applicant's education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements.
